They dine together often. It's becoming a quaint habit.
They are so accommodating of one another.
I wonder who will lay the first Cadbury egg?

Hope Farms ~where hope grows wild~
"Hope" is unilateral, universal, knows no boundaries and has no prejudice.
Hope "farms", so to speak, planting seeds, cultivating creativity, reconstituting lost dreams.
Also, I have learned, it grows wild.
When we first bought our small-timey farm four years ago last week exactly, there were Wisteria, Honeysuckle and Morning Glory vines everywhere threatening to take over. These plants, in the area where I grew up - Southern California - are purchased from big chain home improvement stores and here I was trying to clear them out!
It occurred to me that sometimes, when one hasn't got much in the way of possessions, or belongings even, that one always has hope. Even if at one or many points in one's life its been trampled, damaged or lost. And, it also occurred to me that while you can prune away at things that grow wild, you can never completely eliminate them.
This is how we came to name our farm.

Chick Days
They're here! Baby chicks have got to be one of the cutest things on the planet! We've 15 Ameraucana chicks and more Rhode Island Red Chicks on the way. The Ducklings are also beginning to hatch, with one joining us this morning.
In honor of Chick Days, here are some photos from last year:
These were all Ameraucana's also, being raised by our resident Mother Hen of Hope Farms: TopHat. We love her mothering skills - she's a fierce protector and reliable teacher.
And just for fun, here are some photographs of Henrietta and her brood on a warm summer afternoon:
She is also a great runner-up Mother Hen, our Henrietta, and had taught her little ones at an early age to fly up to roost at night. Even though it was close to 100* degrees, they insisted on setting up underneath her.

WHAT is an Egg CSA?
Here is a video that describes fairy well the idea that we are wanting to hatch and grow here at Hope Farms.

The idea is in hatch-ling status and we are muck-boot deep in the research and development stages, scratching and pecking out ideas focused on suiting our customers needs and simultaneously taking the utmost care of our girls.
